A Day At The Farmers’ Market   Leave a comment

What a great time.  Saturday I spent the day at the South Bend Farmers Market.  The market has been in operation since 1924.

The vendors around me were great people.  All of them have good stuff to offer.  The whole market is that way.  Fresh milk and butter without hormones.  The same for eggs.  Grass raised beef.  All kinds of organic vegetables.  All kinds of mushrooms, even morals, and fresh asparagus.  Lamb and domestic rabbit.  I wanted one of everything.

The gentlemen right next to me operated a loom.  He made rugs from what he called uncycled material.  Bath towels, blue jeans, milk jugs, and such.  Really cool rugs.

Down a ways from me there was homemade hot sauce and  salsa.  The salsa wasn’t as good as mine but I tasted one of has hot sauces. It was a mustard based sauce and really good.  Great flavor and good heat.

I have never tasted grass feed beef.  The gentlemen had every cut you can think of and even hamburger.  The fat content has to be lower so I wonder about the flavor.  You may have to adjust the cooking times and heat especially on the roasts. I have cooked Buffalo many times and because of the lower fat content it’s a little different. You’ll have it dry and tough if you prepare it like beef.

Cows were never meant to eat corn.  It messes up their stomachs and without all the antibiotics pumped into them they will get sick.  It is said that back in the day the Texas Longhorn was lower in cholesterol and fat and a lot healthier than today’s beef.

The cost of most of theses items is some what higher than the norm.  Of course the price of groceries is outrageous the days.

I lost track of how many people stopped and spoke with me.  Most people were aware of the negative side effect of oral pain medications  and became excited about our alternative.

I gave out lots of free samples and even made some sales.  People are calling me and the discussion continues.  From the results of the free trial pack continuing with this alliterative  is a great choice for them.

I will be returning this Saturday.  Hope to see you there.

Forget The Pain and The Ear Ache   Leave a comment

Forget The Pain And South Bend Pain Management

There is nothing more troublesome than an ear ache especially when experienced by a child.

When they are small and can’t tell you it hurts a child will be pulling at their ear.  This is how I experienced it when my two children were toddlers.  We lived op at 6,000 ft.  and I do believe the trip up and down the mountain, with the change in air pressure,  bothered their ears.

There are many reasons for ear ache, some can be serous and others not so much.  Just getting water in the ear from the shower or bath can be the cause.

Inflammation is the outer or inner ear have different causes and a visit to the doctor is warranted especially if accompanied by a fever or loss of balance.  Pain in the ear can also be a symptom of some other conditions far away from the ear.

My children were experiencing this problem often and trips to the doctor and a prescription for an anti-biotic can be costly.  I never allowed them them to suffer so we made the trip.

I was talking to a group of ladies one day at school.  I brought up the subject and one of them gave me some great information.  I have used and shared this option ever since and it works on children and adults.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Isopropyl Alcohol.  I take the peroxide and fill the cap. Then add a few drops of alcohol to it.  Then take a cotton swab and dip into the mixture.  Tilting the head squeeze the liquid  so it drips into the ear canal.   The bubbles from the  hydrogen peroxide will tickle a bit.

The  hydrogen peroxide will work on any inflammation and also soften ear wax.  The alcohol will help  dissipate any water in the ear.  This works great on an ear ache and the results are almost immediate.

If you are having problems with wax build up I discovered a system at my natural store.   It is called an Ear Candle.  It is a small tube and a candle.  Protecting yourself from dripping hot wax you insert the tube into the ear canal and light the candle.  You maybe surprised at all the dirt that accumulates in the ear.

Remember ear wax is very important to your hearing.  It is the lubricant that keeps your ear drum healthy and working properly.

Be safe and protect your hearing.

Forget The Pain And South Bend Pain Management: Muscle Pain   Leave a comment

We can experience muscle pain for several different reasons.  Strains from overdoing an activity and bruising.   Cramps and spasms.

Fibromyalgia is not well understood.  People experience tender spots and pain.  These sites seem to move from place to place on a daily basis.  There are no diagnostic tests currently to diagnose this condition.   Fibromyalgia is very difficult for doctors to diagnose.   Touching a member of my family, my little sister has the condition greatly affecting her daily activities.

An other condition given the name Myofascial Pain Syndrome or MPS.  An other way of describing  pain and inflammation in the muscles.  This syndrome can be a source of chronic pain.  This is interesting because the place the pain is felt may not be the source where the pain is generated.   It’s called a trigger point and deemed referred pain.  Not only triggered from a muscle but a  ligament or tendon.  May also vertebra and disks in the back.

Repetitive motion and general fatigue can be a contributor to this condition.  On the opposite end lack of motion can be a factor.

There are more than 600 muscles in our bodies, voluntary and involuntary.  Good muscle health begins with exercise and diet.  Foods low in  saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.  Fat-free or low-fat milk and dairy products.   Fruits, vegetables, whole grains.  Eggs, beans,  fish, lean meats, nuts, and poultry.

Have a muscle  cramp?  Eat a banana.

Keeping our muscles healthy and in good shape is the first step to keeping our selves pain free.  Knowing your boundaries during activity and exercise.  When you do over do it and experience pain we have a top flight solution.   No adverse side effects as when taking a pill.  No waiting an hour for the relief to take effect.  Revitalizing tissue and promoting healing.

Rub a dab on and the pain will be gone.

Find out more about how it works here.

Pain and Smoking   Leave a comment

Physicians widely agree  smoking increases the sensation of pain.  This was the first question I was asked when my doctor was trying to diagnose the pain in my arm.  He told me smoking has an effect on your threshold of pain.

Of course the health risks of smoking are well known.  Some suffer from the same life threatening illnesses as smokers and never had a cigarette in their life.  Can this all be blamed on second had smoke?

Very difficult to quite smoking,  just ask me.  I stopped for 2 1/2 years once.  Why I started up again I’ll never understand.

Nicotine has an effect on your circulatory system.
Even though it increases heart rate and blood pressure there is a negative effect on the delivery of oxygen thought out the body.  Lowering the movement of  oxygen and carbon dioxide into and out of the cells.
This can  slow the ability for healing.

I am an advocate for blood flow. Send the fuel to the engine.  Smoking lowers the octane so to speech.

The toxins in cigarette smoke takes about 8 second to reach the brain.  Affecting your nerves system that fast.

Pain sufferers should not smoke but this is true for all of us.

Non-invasive Healthcare   Leave a comment

Non-invasive healthcare is generating great enthusiasm and becoming a rapidly growing field.

Non-invasive is defined as keeping the body in a state of remaining being whole.  A technique that does not require the skin to be broken or a cavity or organ of the body to be entered.   An invasion healthy tissue  is not involved.

Ultrasound has been around for years.  Light therapy is becoming popular with many shin disorders. Even Sleep and some psychiatric problems.

The Chiropractic Profession and Therapeutic Massage take fill advantage of this method.  It is well known that reliving stress and increasing blood flow has a positive effect on our well being.

With proper calorie intake and nutrition, engaging in some sort of exercise each day, and a proper night sleep we can feel healthier and actually be healthier.

I believe strongly in increasing blood flow.  The blood caries all of the life giving necessities to every cell in the body.  When motion is difficult because of pain your starving those areas of much needed oxygen and  nutrients.

I’s a catch 22.  Pain stops motion.  Less motion, less blood flow.  The body have less chance of rejuvenating these areas.

Help can be found in a Non-invasive way.  You don’t have to ingest anything.  Without invading the entire body and causing damage to vital organs.  Overdose is out of the question.

Trying is believing.  Become a believer.
