This news comes from Brigham Young University.
Every year a group of engineering students from Brigham Young are challenged to create a product which meets the company’s specific needs.
The Capstone program is put on every year at BYU.
This year one of the teams is being sponsored by Blackstone. The Blackstone Group L.P. is a multinational private equity, investment banking, alternative asset management and financial services corporation based in New York City.
They have challenged one of the engineering student teams to create an apparatus that will decrease the number of people dying from prescription drug abuse.
The Med Vault is a tamper proof prescription drug vault. It is setup to dispense the prescribed dose of the drug at the prescribed times. If the patient tries to break in or tamper with the machine this activity is recorded.
I wonder if the plan is to dispense this device with every oral pain prescription?
Those with a history of drug abuse and memory problems may do well with this gizmo.
When we are seeing that over 30,000 people die each year from oral pain medications has to be a great idea no matter what the cost.
I am all for this little machine and hope the public embraces it, but more than that I say get off these dangerous medications and use a safe and effective alternative.
Brislings are a small fish typically caught, canned and imported from Scotland or Norway.
OK, I’ll say the word….sardine. Sardines include several types of fish and I know many will say “yuk”. You picture the football guy sitting in the recliner with beer and sardines. The strong fishy smell turns many off. It doesn’t have to be that way.
The small Brislings have a light smell and taste and are packed full of great nutrition.
Brislings are a huge anti-inflammatory and are zero on the Glycemic Load Index. High in Niacin and Calcium, and packed with Protein, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Phosphorus and Selenium. Just like salmon it’s a great source of Omega-3s.
Size matters when it comes to sardines, the smaller the better and Brislings fall into this category. You won’t find the strong fishy smell and taste here. I find them sweet and delectable and more than a snack just out of the can. Believe it or not you can find all sorts of recipes for the little fish.
I would bet if you like fish and, in the past, you didn’t care for sardines you will like Brislings.
Some brands are pricy but you will find them at an affordable price too. I choose the ones packed in oil, just like tuna. A few more calories but much more flavor.
Go ahead, be brave and try a can. Lower the inflammation in your body and enjoy a tasty dish or appetizer for lunch or dinner.
Overall Sardines are very high in their anti-inflammatory effect.
For those who have to keep track of their sugar intake the Glycemic Load is zero.
There is a cholesterol concern with sardines but the brisling is much is lower so keep an eye on that. Omega-3s help lower cholesterol so it is a give and take situation. Fish is an important part of our diet and should be included.
I went to a Japanese restaurant over the weekend and indulged in a great meal and enjoyed watching the Chef do his magic.
This was one of the places where your meal is put together on a grill in front of your seating arrangement.
I do have experience with Japanese cuisine going back to the years I spent living in California. Karashi has been one of my favorite, hot, condiments’. Several of the beers are good and then there’s the hot Saki.
Enjoying cucumbers all year round I never used them in cooking before. They are great in salads, dips, and of course pickles. Unable to master the cucumber salad using Coleslaw Dressing has been my standby. If you have a recipe for this, please share it with me. You know the sour cream and vinegar thing.
The Greek sauce for Gyros is a favorite of mine too. (Sour Cream has fewer calories than Mayonnaise)
When you press the water from the cuke wipe your face with the towel. You will feel you skin tighten immediately.
Charlie, our chef, was entertaining. He began making mushrooms and veggies for the fried rice adding cucumbers to this mixture. Slightly sautéed and still crunchy this was delicious. I’ve made it twice, since, at home.
Cut them in thin strips then bite size pieces. They have a nice fresh flavor.
Cucumbers have a low glycemic load and are slightly anti-inflammatory and very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. It’s also a good source of Dietary Fiber, Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Copper and Manganese, and a very good source of Vitamin C and Vitamin K.
Easy to grow in the garden and if you have the problem with the burps there is the burpless model.
A woman came up to me at one of the Farmers Markets where I run a booth several weeks ago. She was wearing a knee brace with a cane and stated the surgery done on her knee was not healing well and still hurt. The pain pills prescribed to her weren’t working anymore.
I began explaining how oral pain medications raise levels of Substance P and that she had built up a tolerance for the medication.
We embarked on a discovery of the ingredients in Real Time Pain Relief. I explained Arnica Montana. When applied to the skin, Arnica can speed healing by decreasing swelling and pain and speeding blood reabsorption. Used on a range of conditions to heal wounds, soothe muscles, and reduce inflammation. Arnica is great for sprains, bruises, muscle aches, rheumatic pain, swelling due to fractures and trauma to soft tissues.
She said really.
Next I told her about MSM and how it relieves inflammation, warms the muscles, relieves and prevents soreness, and assists healing. MSM is found in our bodies’ naturally and is a vital building block for joints and cartilage.
Still being skeptical she offered up “really” again.
Her husband broke into the conversation beginning with carpal tunnel. I gave him a dab and he applied it on his wrist. I returned to the knee.
Last but not least Capsicum stimulates circulation, enhances blood flow and reduces Substance P. Capsicum stimulates the bodies’ process of regenerating cartilage in our joints.
I have a mondo herald in my display that explains many of the ingredients and how they work. She was giving this a close inspection.
About that time the husband said he could feel the alteration in his wrist, it was working. Taking advantage of the layering process I gave him some more.
To make a long story shorter this woman was very skeptical and said she didn’t think it would work. She was ready to try anything so she bought a small jar. Two weeks later she called me. “Can I get some more?” This has benefited my knee and my husband’s wrist. This is amazing.
She came over and proceed right up the steps, no knee brace or cane, and purchased a larger jar, two in fact one for a friend.
I love these success stories and will share more with you. I have many.
I am confident I can help you or someone you care about.

Real Time Pain Relief has introduced their new White Formula which is Paraben and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) free.
What is a Paraben? It is a preservative and being more precise an anti-microbial and also helps to hold all the other ingredients together. (binder)
This ingredient is found in many products we use every day and is commonly used in cosmetics including moisturizing lotions, hair care and shaving products. You will also see Paraben in food and drugs. It is important in keeping us safe from bacteria.
In 2005 the FDA re-evaluated its 1984 findings and reaffirmed that Paraben was safe when found at 25% concentrations or lower and is typically used at 0.01 to 0.3% levels.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is also found in everyday products and is a foaming agent. If a product foams you are likely to find it as an ingredient. Tooth Paste is one, shampoo is an other. The Sodium Lauryl Sulfate has also been removed.
There is a myth that Sodium Lauryl Sulfate causes cancer. Neither the FDA or The American Cancer Society have found this true. When used in a topical application it is safe. There are federal regulations about its use in food.
As the name implies, Real Time Pain Relief White, the food grade #1 blue dye has also been removed. Do not confuse this Food Grade with just Blue #1.
This formula still offers you over a dozen natural ingredients that relieve pain but also reduces inflammation, increases blood flow, revitalize tissue, and promote healing. Real Time Pain Relief still smells great in this formula.
A profound difference in the pain management theory.

April is National Sleep Awareness Month.
This makes it a good time spend some thought on our sleep habits.
Mom would always say “get your 8 hours.” According to The National Sleep Foundation there is no magic number. Each person is different. Our age and physical condition are factors we should consider but still we all need to visit never never land. A restful night’s sleep makes a huge difference in how we feel. We all are aware of this fact.
What keeps you awake, the kids, your job, or the bills? Stress and anxiety are factors plus many medical conditions and pain being one of biggest reasons for stealing a restful night’s sleep away from us.
I do believe our bodies have an internal clock. I haven’t used an alarm clock for years. I always woke up in time for a shower and coffee and make it to work on time. Now that I’m older 4 am seems to be my norm.
I recall working nights when I was in my 20s at a grocery store stocking shelves. I did it for years but never got used to it. I just could not get used to sleeping during the day. Finally I discovered if I stopped at a local pub and had a pitcher of beer on my way home sleep came to me. Oh those were the good old days.
During National Sleep Awareness Month let’s all take note on how we sleep. Not just how long but the quality of the rest we get. Take note of some of the issues keeping you from the benefits of a restful sleep. Some slight changes may make for a better night. Low levels of serotonin are a known factor in sleepless nights. Carbohydrates give you an instant lift because they trigger the release of serotonin.
Some exercise, proper nutrition, aromas, and reducing stress can help. There is information all over the internet on this subject. Find what works for you and share the info with a friend.
If pain is a problem, I am confident I can help. So many oral pain medications interfere with sleep. Chronic pain problems are a leading cause for the lack of sleep.

I just had a search come to my site about potato water and Arthritis. There is some talk about this old home remedy.
The nutritional value of the potato is well-known. A member of the nightshades family of plants it is a native of the Americas. After being introduced to Europe and around the world it has become the 4th largest cultivated crop on the planet.
With the addition of milk and butter people can survive on just consuming the vegetable (tuber).
The tuber is very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a great source of Vitamin C and Potassium, and a very good source of Vitamin B6. Even though a lot of carbohydrates and starch are involved the glycemic load is low to moderate but the inflammatory factor is on the negative side. Mildly inflammatory which means it is more likely to promote inflammation than reduce it.
Long before the internet I read in a health journal the potato can lower stress. This is minus the fat, butter and sour cream, and without the salt.
Another home remedy is relief of hemorrhoids. I have not tried it and the chance I won’t is at 100% or more. Cut into small pieces and frozen then used as a suppository you may find relief for the discomfort of hemorrhoids, or at least forget about them during the thaw!
I enjoy this culinary delight in every way except raw and the above mentioned. They are on the menu several times a week from dawn to dusk.
In my way of thinking the potato water for arthritis is a myth. That said I am pro anything that may help without doing harm. If you try this home remedy for a few weeks please give us some feedback on you results.
Foods with a positive effect on arthritis: Fruits and vegetables , fish, nuts and olive oil.
The Best Treatment for Artritis
Is it an ugly cucumber or a Bitter Melon? It’s really classified as a gourd and used a lot in Asian cuisine with the most popular recipe coming from the Chinese.
The melon also goes by the name Balsam Pear.
Holding to its name the taste could be a little bitter. Some compare it to cilantro, which I love. The stems are the bitter part of cilantro by my taste.
Preparing the Bitter Melon like an eggplant, soaking it in milk can remove some of the bitter taste. The Chinese like to stuff it with pork and black beans. This sounds good to me.
The melon is easy to grow so try something new and enjoy.
The melon is a little hard to find in my area. After searching I found some in an Asian Market. Now I’ve talked one of the produce guys at my farmers market to grow some this year. He said he has raised it before and didn’t have much luck selling it. After I explained to him its ability to lower blood sugar Art agreed to grow it again.
I talk to people all the time with Diabetes that deal with Diabetic Nerve Pain. This is a form of chronic pain and Real Time Pain Relief can be a great help reliving this condition.
As you may have seen here I love to tell people how food and nutrition can lower inflammation in our bodies and even help with relieving pain.
People with higher blood sugar levels can benefit from the Bitter Melon.
The melon works so well lowering blood sugar you should consult your doctor if you are taking oral medications.
